Today we welcome Lara to Memorial Park needing to bounce back after the disappointing result by our Senior Team last week. To all of our teams today, good luck and lets make sure that victories are had by all.
On the Football front, to say that last weeks Senior result was disappointing would be an understatement. With all the hard work that has been done by many at the club, and not just the Players, to be given that performance was simply not good enough. Losing games due to a lack of respect for the opposition is unacceptable. Enough said! Today we must bounce back. The reserves had another good win and are now starting to put some form on the board. The blend of the younger and older players is starting to work and the results are now coming. The U/18 Team also had a good win and are now starting to play some consistent football. The players are starting to jell as a team and are working for each other. To all teams today, good lack, and let’s have wins by all teams.
Our Senior Netball section had a day of mixed results with 3 wins and 2 losses. The A, C & D grade teams all had good wins and the B & U/17 grades had narrow losses. The pleasing aspect is that all senior teams are currently sitting inside the top four with the C grade girls on top and undefeated. The U/17 team continues to improve and are not far away from stringing some victories together. To all our Netballers, good luck today.
One of our U/18 players, Jye Bolton was the round 5 “Spirit of Football Award” winner. He was presented his award last week by Football Geelong and the Victorian Police. Well done Jye.

Netball
Round 7 saw the mighty Polders take on Grovedale. Our D grade girls fought hard and were lucky to come away with a 4 goal win. Lorette played well in WD and then in the mid. Both Nyree and Kirsty applied tight pressure in defence and pulled in some strong rebounds.
The C graders came away with a 7 goal win against a strong Grovedale line up. This result for the girls sees them clearly on top on the ladder with 7 from 7 wins. Sarah played a great game in the mid with some exceptional passing into the goal circle. Mel and Stacey were also named in the best on the day.
The B’s unfortunately couldn’t pull off a win despite a valiant fight back. Ebony put in a strong defensive effort including some great intercepts. Chloe played her usual physical game giving Grovedale plenty of headaches then giving herself one after a nasty collision. Emma shot an accurate 24 goals.
Our A graders came away with a convincing win with Candice shooting well in the goals. Both Kristin and Thomo played great netball all day. All in all a good round of netball for the Polders. This week sees us take on Lara at our home court.
